Analysis of The Approved Workers
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I remind you of these things,
Charging you before the Lord;
Quarrel not words that it brings,
So that hearers are not ignored.
Present yourself to the Lord,
As a worker not ashamed;
Speaking truth in one accord,
Whenever it is proclaimed.
Shun profane and vain babble,
It incites ungodliness;
Turns into utter gabble,
Leading them to false witness.
Their talk will spread like gangrene,
And eating as does cancer;
Possibly turning obscene,
To become a renouncer.
For they would swerve from the truth,
Upsetting the faith of most;
And becoming so uncouth,
Which would block the Holy Ghost.
The firm foundation of God,
Always stands bearing a seal;
The Lord knows those who will laud,
He graces with His appeal.
To name the name of the Lord,
Departs from iniquity;
Remaining in one accord,
With the Holy Trinity.
