Analysis of Worldly Lighting
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
As you have always obeyed,
In the presence of the Lord;
You need not to be afraid,
If you keep in one accord.
Work out your fear and trembling,
It is God who works in you;
For His good pleasure willing,
In all that you might pursue.
Do all things without grumbling,
Be blameless and innocent;
Pursuing without mumbling,
Disposition as pleasant.
Without rebuke or blemish,
Within this perverse nation;
Shine brightly as you cherish,
The Lord for your salvation.
Shine as a light in the world,
Hold fast to the Word of Life;
No matter what may be hurled,
Rejoice in the midst of strife.
Though if poured out as a drink,
Offered as a sacrifice;
Be glad and take time to think,
Just as the Lord does entice.
Serve your faith by being glad,
Showing joy in your rejoicing;
In the Lord never be sad,
For what salvation will bring.
