Analysis of The Man That is Me
Where is that man I once was?
Has it really been all that long?
Depression doesn't help, but gaining confidence does,
Can't be singing that same old song.
I need to get back into me,
The man who knew how to earn.
The man who knew nothing comes free.
The man who always wanted to learn.
I've been sulking in my own sorrow,
I've been living amid my own shame.
Stuck in the past instead of tomorrow,
Being a pawn in my own game.
I can't make it as a criminal,
To much guilt to be a bum,
I once was rare, a true original.
Liked by many, loved by some.
That man that I so easily forgot,
Looked me in the eyes this morning.
In that mirror my demons had fought,
Reality then hit me with no warning.
I then woke up from that nightmare,
Felt a weight lift off my shoulders.
That man I lost, was right there,
Now somewhat wiser and a little colder.
