Analysis of The Often Times Nature Of Love

Love,
A tempestuous force of nature,
Akin to the ocean's waves,
A volatile entity that we cling to,
A frenzied passion that shackles.

It starts as a flicker,
A spark of attraction,
A desire that ignites within,
A wild fire of interaction.

The touch of skin on skin,
The rhythm of our breath and sweat,
A primal connection, divine sin,
Physicality, we can't mistake.

But beneath the surface lies a truth,
A darkness that we cannot ignore,
Love can bring destruction and grief,
A recklessness that we must explore.

It may bring ecstasy and bliss,
But also pain and turmoil,
Losses that we cannot dismiss,
And scars that never heal.

Yet, we chase love with reckless abandon,
Blinded by its mystic allure,
Seeking out that which cannot stand alone,
And blindsided by the arousal.

Love may endure through stormy seas,
Or it may falter and fray,
But we continue to chase that elusive breeze,
For love is, after all, a gamble that we wage.

Joe Strickland

I'm just a regular, blue collar, working stiff who took an interest in writing poetry many years ago but until recently I haven't had a desire to share any with anyone or pursue publication. I'm an unpublished fork lift operator by night, and a day drinker by choice. I can be followed on Twitter @JoeStricklandSC more…
