Analysis of The Believers

Oh to be a child again and live
In the land of make believe
To go wherever your heart desires
Be anything you can conceive

To laugh in the face of danger
Find joy in the smallest of things
Be brave and strong one minute
The next tight to Mom's apron strings

To wake up everyday and see
A new day full of things to explore
With a blanket and a stick at hand
You needed nothing more!

We trusted the people around us
And knew on them we could depend
To keep us safe from all harms way
While we happily played pretend

To appreciate the sights and sounds
Surrounding us everywhere we go
The smell of fresh baked apple pie
The sound of crunching snow

Little ones know what true love is
Their hearts are pure and forgiving
Reminding those around them every day
What makes life worth living

Their giggles and their smiles
Bring calmness and somehow nurture
Giving hope when all seems lost
For a brighter, better future

So when you see a child, take a moment
To see the world within their view
That little child still dwells within
The souls of me and you

What a difference it would make
If the world would stop running wild
And took the time needed to reciprocate
The empathy and benevolence shown in every child.

About this poem

Children are the sparkle in our eyes, they give us hope, even if it's from the child within ourselves.
