Analysis of Unconcerned
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
More difficult it is,
To remain detached.
And unconcerned,
About these times we live in.
With so many,
Who by now should have learned...
Something about the past.
To have earned,
A few lessons.
Burned to cement permanently,
In their memories.
Done to mention to growing children,
Never for them to attempt to repeat.
And...
As difficult as it is,
To remain distant, unconcerned and detached.
From an ignorance like that.
Observed to be given support,
With funding to endorse...
Acts of stupidity marketed to attract.
One blessed to have aged with a mind,
Attached to a peaceful existence found to find.
Easier it becomes not to question,
That which God does with a doing to pray.
Since...
Displaying an absence of common sense,
By those who are obviously...
Not mentally equipped to have it.
Is the business of God's.
And apparently also of those who claim...
A knowing about what God does to do,
Better than anyone else...
Not chosen to be both self righteous,
And a part time hypocrite.
Yet...
Will be heard to declare themselves to be,
A concerned Christian.
Yes.
Under certain circumstances.
With this to depend upon the hour of the day.
And who happens to be observing,
The serving of their performance.
'What a cynical and exaggerated thing to say.
You reek of sarcasm.
With a misunderstanding to comprehend,
Good deeds
And the people who do them naturally done.
There are some who are sincere.
As well as unpretentiously empathetic.'
I apologize.
Here to make it clear right now.
I honestly had no intention to offend you.
Had I known you were sensitive like that,
I would have kept my mouth shut.
'Don't attempt to make this about me.
I am not the one,
Hoping with a wish...
To keep my integrity nervously protected.'
If you had not mentioned it,
I would not have noticed your nervousness.
At all.
Although...
My innocence has at times,
Been accused of being...
How can I put this?
Intentionally convenient.
When often misinterpreted to be,
Judgemental.
And...
I apologize,
For what to you seems in need to defend,
Mistakenly.
'You...
Huh?
I forgot what we were talking about.'
Liars who deceive.
And take advantage of others,
Who are innocently accused of betrayal.
To deny the wickedness of their treasonous,
Vindictive ways.
'Was all of this about politics?'
Some of it and the rest depends,
On your memory.
'Give me a break.
It is the first of May, you know.'
What would you prefer on you I break?
