Analysis of Old Glory Tells Her Story

From commission to creation
Sewn by hand, stitching pieces of tragedy and destiny
For all who died she waves with pride
Representing the birth of a nation

She weeps at half-mast for me
She waves proudly in the breeze for me
She honors the fallen and mourns the unknown
Patiently waiting for every soldier to come home

She stands for the people who stood for me
Who continue to protect the dream
Freedom, the right to exist, to be
A harbinger of infinite possibilities

The fight still continues
Liberty is never here to stay
There is a constant threat that
It can be taken away

The darkness, dirty politics, violence, false prophets
I battle every day
For independence, equal say and equal pay
My body, my life, no human will decide what is right for me

When times get tough and they will and do
Old glory tells her story
And I am humbled and grateful
For those who fought before me

She can’t escape her painful history
What the future holds is a mystery
Yet she is still a beacon for the weary
And a bastion for the dissident

To the stars and stripes
The red white and blue
From the deepest depths until I take my last breath
I salute you
