Analysis of Looking Back
Rickey Pettis 1983 (Texas)
I first saw the questions in your eyes
They were asking me if I really understand
Then before my heart gave its reply
I felt you drop from my hand
As I close my eyes picture all we did, you know the things lovers do
Looked back on the love we shared, wonder if we were fools
Being with you defined my life, now it’s incomplete without you
So I wonder is there any reason to fight for what use to be me and you
I’ll be the first to admit that it’s heartbreaking and confusing
Trying to hold on baby, can’t afford to fail because it’s you i’m losing
It’s hard but one day I’ll get on track
All I can do is wonder and look back
