Analysis of Redundant Overkill

                         Redundant Overkill
Decision makers

All is well arranged, and in impeccable order,
“According to expert analysis,” said the reporter.
The facts were documented, was the sentiment,
Overseen by accountants, with heavy regiment.

No dissertation was needed, we were well invested,
Before the decision, at the luncheon was ingested.
Any notion to overturn the motion would cause a commotion,
So, we adhered to that final vote with deference and devotion.

There would be no further schooling, on that steadfast ruling,
Nor would there be obstruction, restructuring, or retooling.
No mention of extension, voice of dissention, it was the final action,
In accordance with our satisfaction, there would be no redaction.

The judiciary had no commentary, they were all conceding,
The continuance of the circumstances was effectively receding.
No chance to repeal, no sense to pitch another offer,
The case is closed; sealed in a cryptic coffer.

The opponent mired the proceedings by filibuster,
It was later verified their supposition lost its luster.
Their fight was waged, but we beat reluctance with muster.
Called it a night and swept it up with a dust buster.

An entrant from the candidate’s presidential trail,
Shows recycled promises that can never fail.
An infusion of new jobs and an economy for sale,
The same vows from last year, by contrast, seem pale.

He seems a reliable leader, friendly and warm.
His guidance will begin right after rehab and reform.
He will reiterate about lowering taxes for the middle class,
While skating about having tax free assets, overseas: how crass!

He’ll most assuredly support Social Security to help the poor,
Recycling his stump, in a stunt, that offers more allure.
He jumps into fights over civil right with cold feet like before,
Hoping dimples in his grin punctuates his mute points by the score.

What a collision that was, like spontaneous combustion.
The player was swayed to the sideline with a concussion.
He collided with another player causing cranial pain,
On the sidelines under doctors’ care, he will still remain.

The trainers are saying he must have been brained.
An MRI will reveal his gray matter to be strained.
He will be released to play after consciousness is gained,
After his fuzzy focus and double vision have waned.

The medical staff is without a gaffe; of their tests they are certain,
The team will wait for pain to abate before rolling back the curtain.
We’ll rerun the replay fifty times, as if it was new,
In slow motion to see where he wobbles to the sideline to spew.

The ruling states he will be out for one or two plays,
Lest he enter the game in a fog and a haze.
We will see him run onto the field like a mouse in a maze.
He must return, for their chance of winning to raise.

Finale from an Amnesiac with ADHD making a point about something..

We can therefore be sure (what was it?) is certain.
Knowing only (something about a thin veiled) ..curtain………..
(Something about) double standards in abundance,
Treating (ominous situation) with threatening redundance.

(Something about platitudes) on a shelf
(Don’t be misled or the like) and think for yourself.

Al Bartolis

I am an elementary school teacher by trade. I feel that being of service to others is one of the most joyous and meaning things one can do in their life. The challenges of that work environment, as well as the state of our world, our country and our communities, impel me to write. I therefore write for reconciliation, restoration, and revelation. Writing, for me is very powerful, because it calls me to be honest. Therefore it is one of the most meaningful things I can do. more…
