Analysis of Be Quick to Listen

Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)

B ecause it’s so easy to speak against our brothers,
E very word we speak should serve to build up others.

Q uestion the motives of every man’s heart.
U ntil you know the truth; your speaking should not start.
I n everything you say you should not tear down others.
C are for Lord Jesus and you will care for your brothers.
K indness is not when you tear others down.

T o do this is evil and out you’ll be found.
O ur speech should flow from a clean and pure heart.

L ess than this will not cut it so don’t even start.
I think a man should first examine himself.
S o he can speak with reverence, it’s good for his health.
T he wise man is cautious with all that he says.
E ach word chosen carefully to be sure it’s the best.
N ever speaking too quickly and never in haste,

S peaking only the words that will not go to waste,
L ooking for answers to the trouble that surrounds him,
O ld things became new at the moment Christ found him!
W ill his words then fall upon the ears of the deaf?

T hey will when they’re the only ones in the world who are left.
O sleeper now wake up you might be the last.

S aved from the fire and not to be an outcast,
P eople from every nation, language, tribe and tongue,
E ven from the worst of all sinners they will come.
A sking for forgiveness and redemption at His throne,
K ing of kings and Lord of lords, His mercy they’ll be shown.

E verything will become clear to you once you know the Truth.
