Analysis of Mary Shelley authored a book.
Doug Blair 1951 (London)
She partnered wrong
Swept off her feet
By a Romantic
Who treated beautiful images
Cheaply, leeringly.
But spoke all the contrived
Words to win a woman’s heart
And then others. Percy did.
He couldn’t handle money
Couldn’t handle decency.
Looked at history only as
A naysayer (Ozymandias).
Irreverent.
Even about the essence of Life.
Took Mary to a number
Of symposiums
Featuring supposed doctors/quacks.
Who toyed with electricity
Cold mortal flesh unsettled
And a jerking leg or eyelid.
Mary wrote the Book.
Created the confused Monster
In the imaginations of myriads.
Contributed to grievous
Mistakes about Man replacing God.
Boris Karloff got a career.
Troubling people’s sleep.
Making for distrust of very tall men.
