Analysis of Days I Must Not Forget

These are days I must not forget
Sunlit days, my soul warmed deep, without regret.
Unfettered feelings before there was shame,
Set free to soak the sun's healing flame.
Days of sweetness that gave me life.
Days of kisses with visions of night.
Serene sensual hope set free
Begins the quest for autonomy.

I see Terry Graebner running so fast.
Her feet bare. Bare footed in the grass.
She was waiting for me at the end of the day
On old Sligo Golf Course on the last fairway.
Young, alive, an impassioned runner
As the sun's rays streaked low at the end of summer.
Her olive skin and jet-black hair,
Fresh and moist in the humid air.
It was me she was thrilled to see,
To hug and kiss. Me. Only me.

We had kissed one time before,
Pressed against her basement's knotty pine door.
No one home, just we two,
To touch and feel and smell a new
And different way of life.
Two nine year olds,
Our souls unite
Like ancient beings.
Beings of Light.

My life ended that day.
Nothing else to require.
Only the intermingling, intertwined breath.
Breath that melded in to eternal desire.
