Analysis of While the People Sleep

Harold Creggan 1950 (Tadcaster)

Tyrants live in leisure,
           dining on a gourmet treasure.
While The people sleep,
many acts devious. and deceitful occur.
Culminate with a nod and wink,
as they suppress what you think.
they steal the walls and sheets
           from you as you sleep.
As  they dream on, we are safe,
           No one sleeps forever.
One day they will wake
           There will be an accounting
                      for all, they did take.
Will you look at that?
            an eyelid quivered.
