Analysis of Not Barbie.

I don’t want to be barbie
Small shoulders and a tiny waist
A true “womanly figure”
With curves and smiles and hips
Teeth clean and white like pearls
Bright blue eyes pretty pink lips
Envied by all the little girls

I want to be Ken
Tan and foolish and lovable
A himbo, a sweetheart as well
A body that everyone wants
Millions of versions all in different fonts
I crave to own that pretty boy charm
To have abs, a square jaw and muscles on my arm

So away with Barbie
And in with Ken
Take my body, leave my soul
Rebuild me again and again
Package me in plastic
Let carbon dioxide flood my breath
Inhale, exhale, impale,
My skin with zip ties and tape

Stare into my bright doll eyes
Kiss Barbie a sweet goodbye
I am being recycled
I am breaking the cycle
Dress me up, tear me down
Playing Barbie, was jesting, I was a clown

From this box I stare at you
Surrounded naked by cloth and shoe
I am Ken, I always have and always will be
I don’t want to be Barbie.
