Analysis of Sand Waves
The ocean washing over the morning sand
like one giant textured rolling pin
A cerulean plow with heavy crystal blades breaking the golden sand and cutting a furrow for small sea creatures to grow like seeds

About this poem
I am in love with the ocean, especially the Washington state coast where I grew up. One of my favorite phenomena is “sand waves”. Sand waves are long undulating ridges of sand created by tidal currents, some stretching hundreds of meters long. I get a smile on my face every time I get the pleasure of seeing this massive coastal pattern. I often take my shoes off and walk barefoot on the uneven sand while I look for shells and sea creatures.
