Analysis of Salt
I came here in a teardrop, meant to drown the whole wide world When I finally reached the bottom, I found that I was just a pearl Stuck my tongue down in the water, salty brine upon my lips Tried to swim across the ocean, but I had no fingerprints Stuck my toes into the sand, & stayed where I landed I shot myself up towards the sun, then bloomed where I was planted Adoring you, all the day, this great warmth in the blue sky Like I was a flower, I just devoured your love, as if it were the sunlight Then you left me, left my side, took your love away from me Every day, all through the night Abhoring how this hurts, how it stings inside, it burns Just like losing my tail, again and again, like the first time l fell Fell in love, shed my blood, cast me down to my berth In this cold dark water, on a mother, they called Earth At night, I swear it, I nearly die, without your love within my sight Then I see your face in the morning time, and the wreckage of yesterday just fades away I do this nearly everyday Without fail, always on time My love slips slowly down the sky, the stars above, I live half my life counting on their familiar light Then I.... Well I... Just might... Wish that all my tears evaporate, so the salt burns, pink streaks, onto my cheeks, tattooed forever, scars I can see, that for twelve hours one day, you really loved me Worth it, yes a thousand times Your love, like lightning inside my chest I still feel it, I will forever It's all I took, it's all you left
