Analysis of Bittersweet Memories

I have missed playing gariir, it seems I have forgotten it,
The women chanting buraambur and I have missed the lively air when a Dhaanto is performed,
I have missed the sandy dry land I was born in.

I wish to see and live in a simple life, where the likes of my kins are not segregated,
Divided by caste and hatred found in arrogance,
Nothing can sooth the anger and pain lodged deeply in hurt.

It grinds in my mind how far we have been divided,
Gravely set apart and saddened at how we push ourselves away,
The older generation's anger has turned to the younger generation's grief.

This world is just but a fleeting glory, an illusion,a hallucination to the ones sick of mind,
Were we not born from Adam and Haawa?
Aren't our bodies made from the earth onto which we shall indeed return to?

We have made decisions in the darkness,
We have blinded ourselves for a fragile crown,
A privilege seeped in indignation,
We have twisted our once beautiful history into one so grotesquely deformed.

When shall we return to our plains and lowlands with pride?
When shall we care for our camels and herds,
When shall we care for the land we violently destroyed?
May the shadows in our hearts shift one day.

May we one day see the beauty within the sandy plains,
Where the ostrich dances for it's mate,
And the antelope and gazelles feast upon the blossoming trees.

May we remember the gift once found in abundance,
With such purity and plenty,
To this land we transgressed on, may we fill it to the brim with peaceful settlement.
