Analysis of No Evil
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
You all have unity of mind,
Brotherly love and tender heart;
Remain humbled with being kind,
Never let righteousness depart.
Payback not evil for evil,
Nor reviling for reviling;
That is favored by the devil,
Enabling of your defiling.
Rather you obtain a blessing,
For loving life and see good days;
When you have stopped your transgressing,
And stop doing in evil ways.
Stop your lips from speaking deceit,
And evil from seizing your tongue;
Allow righteousness to defeat,
Any wicked thoughts being flung.
Detour from evil and do good,
As you seek peace and pursue it;
Doing righteously as you should,
The Lord rewards for good merit.
For His eyes are on the righteous,
And His ears listens for their prayer;
Those who do evil see justice,
For defiance trying to dare.
