Analysis of Wasted Time

Oh, Jesus, I’m here, again, at the end of a day, just lost,
Not spent the way I meant, but wasted—at what cost?
Why do I do what I don’t plan to—and avoid what I know is best?
Again, O Lord, I disappoint—and failed another test.
Lift me up to start anew so when I wake again
I stay on task, with no distracts, and for waste, make much amends.

Lord, You give me each day as a gift. Do I unwrap and use?
Do I seek my best within it or make another excuse?
The days go quickly, and I cut my time yet shorter.
I set aside my plans, dismiss my self-made orders.
I forget my inspirations, lose sight of You, my Inspirer.
O God, set my days for You, so for You I am on fire.

Correct me, inspect me, detect all waste within me.
Remove it. Behoove me to be all You desire of me.
Inspire me, hire me to do all that You require.
Perfect me, affect me that I may always aspire
To Heavenly ends, Godly designs, return of Gifts to You.
I strive to present myself and all I do to You, my God so true,
With wrappings of repentance and sorrow and amends
For failures and loss, but more for thanksgivings, again and again.
