Analysis of Still Born Children
Richard Groff 1957 (Pottstown, Pa.)
Illiterate, deaf and blind
Moreover, they act like swine
Wallowing in the lies they heard
Not knowing the truth; they believe the absurd
Why in the world won’t they wake up?
The alarm is still ringing. I made them a cup.
But they won’t roll over and taste of my brew
Black and bitter, they hate it. It tastes like a shoe
They call me a heel as I go on my way
Cursing and laughing they keep me at bay
Chesapeake in the deepest part that they can find
Though I tell them the truth; all they want is a sign
So, I’ll give it to them. They’ll get it this time!
Go ahead and look up if you think that I’m lying
Wake up!
