Analysis of A dream of paradise

As I drive along the coast
It is haunted by ghosts
Ghosts of girls past
The endless summer was their dream
Now they rise from troubled slumber
The morning sun, it lights their way
far too long did they stay
To chase a dream always out of reach
Again, tonight they lie upon the beach
I shed a tear for them as I turn away
No more do I see them
Those who chose to stay
