Analysis of If What Was Said
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
If what was said,
Had been clearly heard to hear.
Correctly appropriate.
Without exaggerations to embellish them.
Honest.
And truth filled.
Full to the brim.
With a rimming of that brim,
Done to do to use one's fingertip to lick it.
Direct.
From one's mouth to another to get.
Leaving,
Maybe...
One or two who listen.
Sitting in disbelief.
Astonished and shocked.
That not one word picked to select.
Began nor ended with B.S.
Even though admittedly so,
Nothing said...
Made sense enough to remember it.
Then left wondering why anyone,
Took the time of theirs to waste.
Intentionally to bore,
Listeners awaiting to criticize...
Something said intentionally inappropriate.
Obnoxious.
Sarcastic and meant to be controversial.
Stinging.
Judgemental.
And flavored with hints of self-confidence.
Not heard at all to be said.
Now...
Who would choose to go out of their way,
To not say to disappoint...
What has been anticipated not to hear heard,
A word of it in a disgusting....
Yet memorable appalling direction.
