Analysis of Isay NO to you

I say NO to you.

Come I’ll hold your hand for the road is long. Don’t worry, I’ll stretch my hand to you. Whenever you fall. I’ll carry you through. You said. You said I shouldn’t cry because crying is for the weak. I saw your lips moving like they were uttering the truth and words of comfort. You said, you said don’t you worry. Don’t worry because you have the world in the palm of your hand. And Your Destiny isn’t merely a dream. My heart felt the tender of your kindness. I tasted happiness. I saw the fire burning through your eyes and I thought wow! This is the man of my dreams, not knowing that it was your abusiveness ignited for you have found a new prey. I was poor and easily sold the idea of being spoiled with money. Prostitution! I was in love, never imagined that I’d wake up to a side of you in rage punching me! Me! You left me no second for clarity, and before my mind could comprehend it. I greeted the walls with my head. You smashed it. Because, because of your insecurities. Because of that bottle turned friend of yours. You’re delusional. Real men share love not violence, they say, but in you, I saw both. The pain, it hit so hard. So hard that everything I felt for you died in me. You’re a good man, you said. Don’t talk bad about me, you said. You don’t remember, you said. I love you, you said. You said it all. And I felt my heart beat fast in fear and my mind telling me to stand up, say nothing and slam the door behind me. I set myself free. I was free. You taught me to stand up for myself, and I stopped you. Some mistakes are flaws, they’re in the character of a person. You slap and apologize. You slap because it’s your norm. Your norm and not mine. I am PRECIOUS, somebody’s mother, somebody’s sister, somebody’s aunt, and I say NO to gender based violences
