BY KAREN OF A FLOWER

Have you ever seen a painting
By Karen of a flower,
Delegated by God, perhaps,
To express His sublime power?
(Each one holds great likeness
To the one upon the stem.
Each, in its singular beauty,
Is a portrait made of Him.)
Could it be, I sometimes wonder,
That He falters in His might
And hires a gentle helper
To bring His subtleties to light?

I suppose not does He so design:

When the nightingale sings
To woo the lady of his choice,
By the sweet breath of God
Does music claim his voice.
The firefly in the forest
Wouldn't travel very far
If the darkness wasn't conquered
By His attachment of a star.
I may need to reconsider,
For He is the Maker of it all.
Without His hand to hold it up,
The Universe would fall.
Still, when I look upon a painting
By Karen of a flower,
I wonder if He commissioned her
To compliment His power.
