Analysis of Chasing Meaning
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
In a race.
Kept to keep updated.
Chasing meaning.
With a meaning everyday,
To define to find...
Common words once used.
Replaced by a new generation.
Defining their experiences,
In ways that describes...
Their lives to live.
And not from a past they did not live.
To have to live or reminisced it missed.
As if they should understand,
What the elders claim...
Were the best times to live.
For them to have ever had.
In a race to chase,
Today's meaning to embrace.
Has left so many isolated.
Believing themselves becoming replaced.
And...
Neither are they wrong or right.
In their ongoing fight,
Against time and it changing.
No one living these days,
Stretched beyond...
Even the most of creative imaginations.
Could or can...
With their efforts prevent.
Yet...
Many are trying to do just that.
Without thought or common sense to use.
But do,
They continue...
Making attempts to go back.
With insisting that the future,
Will not exist if they persist...
Removing the future.
To a permitted non-existence.
'Are they crazed and nuts?
And made to break their own skulls?'
'No one knows,
What the future holds.
But one thing is certain,
To believe it shown to know.
A mind left unused,
And made convinced to abuse it.
Can be detrimental,
To the young ones who perceive...
Abusing themselves is crucial if done,
Successfully to receive acceptance.'
'Is it?
When we were young,
We did some dumb things.
And look at us.
We are as normal today,
Than we ever were.'
'With one exception.'
'Oh?
And what would that be?'
'Today's generation of young people,
Took our beliefs to deceive ourselves.
Including themselves as well.
And with the use of technology,
To fiction, delude and choose...
A whole different reality.
Leaving many today attempting to censor,
All truth related to a reality...
That once for us did exist.'
'That's exactly what I am saying,
About today's young generation.
They are proving whatever they create,
Can be distorted to delude...
History to make of it,
What they choose it to be.
Isn't that what we have done?
And taking our lies to embellish them?
Like those today,
Dripping with youth and vitality.
Making their movies, videos and in High Def...
TV shows.
Much more lucrative for profit.
Creating their own industries.
And taking us all to places,
Only they know to make it shown.
So...
If we were using our minds,
Instead of whining all the time.
We wouldn't be here complaining,
About what the young people do.
At our expense to approve it.
And that my friend,
Whether you like it or not...
Is our contribution,
To their truth.
Not yours or mine but theirs to condone.
Done to deceive or disbelieve,
The reality of our involvement!
Leaving the proof of our disgust,
As evidence of it all!'
