Analysis of A COLLAGE ON MEN

A COLLAGE ON MEN

Most philosophers define ‘man’ as a human being, endowed with reason.
But it is unfair compartmentalizing traits of a man.
Then what defines a ‘man’?
There are many opinions, observations and definitions;
Like, a ‘man’ is a mature version of a person with ‘Y’ chromosomes.
But everything we don’t develop doesn’t mature!
And gone are the days to say that ‘man is a political animal’
Or that ‘I am so manly that I don’t care’.
Then what defines a man?
Is it his ability to protect; his sense of style;
His sartorial tastes or his stature or his benevolence?
And what constitutes a man worth relationship?
A study found that women preferred men who appear to be generous.
But generosity too is a relevant factor;
Whether in a long term or a one day relationship!
An another study shows that women are often attracted to men,
Who have masculine characteristics with some femininity?
Such as, soft hairs & forearms or longer than normal eyelashes, etc.
Also, altruism in men could be seen as ‘softening of their maleness’.
But attraction is likely to be affected by appearance than
Whether one in reality, is like that or not?
Everything aside, a man is a human being after all,
Though expected to be masculine,
He has his weak moments,
His insecurities and softer sides too!
However, real men don’t dwell on their insecurities or fears,
But acknowledge that they do exist!
Once in a while, they might even lower their guards;
To let you in on things those scare them.
But then, they’ll just get back to conquering them.
So, if you are a woman reading this collage,
Try to make your definition of a man.
And if you are a man reading this, just reject all the above,
And crave your own definition of a man.
As for me, men will always be the men and not ‘wo’men!
