Analysis of Engage in Battle
Richard Newton Sherrer 1951 (Easton)
I thank the Lord, who gave me strength,
Judged me faithful to appoint me;
Persevering at any length,
By giving me insight as to see.
I obtained His mercy and grace,
Even though I was a blasphemer;
Forgiving while He embrace,
Being known as my redeemer.
I received mercy in my grief,
As His grace was overflowing;
Building faith and love in belief,
As His glory was bestowing.
For the saying is trustworthy,
Deserving of full acceptance;
After confession in a plea,
And promise of obedience.
For this, cause I obtained His grace,
And belief in eternal life;
As I will tolerate this place,
Coping with the toils and strife.
Now unto the King eternal,
In a love that will not sever;
The only God as immortal,
Honor and glory forever.
