Analysis of Saddened Soul
Mark D. Vizzini 1959 (New Orleans)
He had such high hopes for his life,
Marriage, family and many friends.
He wanted to be an artist, a racer
... to be someone loved.
He had the love of some, at least a few;
And still others knew his love,
Though it was unreciprocated or inadequate
Some aspirations saw moderate success
Yet many mistakes were made
...too many to count
Ideals once precious, were not for this time
And most of what was important was lost.
Beleaguered by societal parasites,
He succumbed, bit by bit.
Nearly all has faded, the embers cooled
The dreams replaced by regrets
And the saddened soul now weeps
...too distant to be heard.
