Analysis of At last!
Kennedy Mwangi 1998 (Nairobi)
I tried to scream, but this time my voice failed me,
I tried to run, but my legs could no longer save me,
I tried praying, but even prayers couldn't comfort me,
I tried so hard, but all my efforts couldn't help me,
My time had come, my past had eventually caught up with me,
All the demons I spent years hiding from, they had finally traced me
All the pain I spent years trying to shut out, was once again getting ready to stab me,
All the thoughts I buried six feet under had risen and getting ready to torment me,
My entire life I kept running so fast, but it seems like fate caught up with me at last.
In this race I thought I'd finish first, but the weight from my past will drag me all the way to last.
