Analysis of Date d’anniversaire.

Angel Acosta 1958 (Cuba)

The thirteenth of may
some carnations spawn doves with moons
Farewells are bloody mirrors of feelings
The death of the sun awakens the eyes of the night
That saliva is joy of sorrows
A dog yawns over the body of destiny
Someone dies like ocean on the maps
Living in pieces covers unfinished desires
There is metamorphosis from light to providence
And maybe
between twelve and one minute at night
already about fourteen
someone concludes the stubborn novel
That orphan routine is a smokeless pipe and a chair for memories
The past drags the opportunity of the present
A verse follows the next carded hair
The uninhabited produces sores that never scab
That fourteenth of May in old world
when… past the middle of the twentieth century
bided by mandrakes of captive passions
I was born, (prematurely outlawed)
life unraveled present even in the absent.

(In hours I will be seventy years old and this poem belongs to the unpublished Zona Reservada notebook)

Angel Acosta

Nothing better to introduce myself than some questions asked by my kind readers. -- How did you get to the world of letters? I belong to a generation of writers without internet. And I don't have facebook nor am I on any of the social networks. Believe me, there are too many Ángel Acosta. Adding another is unnecessary. -- So... Did you create a style? -- Nooooo, that's not so easy!...Today my novels, stories and poetry string handfuls of words with no return. -- How do you write? -- ... anywhere! Inside the bus, the subway, in a park... in the rain, snow, sun... not even pandemics can stop me! -- Do you follow any special method? --... I write for Hand of God. That for me is enough. -- Do you enjoy writing? ---…I can not explain it. I listen to the crazy inner music of each word and I enjoy it as much as the sun when--every day-- gets down on its knees to woo the night... -- Why do you have such a special style; say, challenging, unusual, daring? --... our bloody life is unusual, challenging and daring!... All I do is narrate and make verses with architectural signs. I respect every sound of the soul and build it with your words. In one fell swoop I put them together and describe (as I see and hear them) our daily conflicts. That like a fighting fish they slap even their own image. -- Who do you write for? -- … for my grandchildren! Leopolda and all my children… -- By the way... Who is Leopolda? -- Ahhh!... She is my favorite corner. A Christ without a cross... The next verse! --…and Cristóbal Delanada? --... the charm of that man wanders in my novels, stories, verses and also here... https://cristobaldelanada.wordpress.com/ -- How do you get your inspiration? --... as simple as keeping five fingers together inside... and outside the pocket.... Do you understand? more…
