Analysis of How Did You Spend Your Day
John Arthur Burnett 1949 (Jersey City)
When you woke this morning,
did you smile and greet the day?
Or did you frown at the dawning,
and have nothing good to say.
Did your family see you happy,
or only sadness in your face?
A warm smile and I love you,
or did they long for an embrace.
Did you make someone glad to see you,
as you greeted them today?
Did they try to avoid you,
not wanting to hear what you might say?
Did you take time to think of others,
or did you just go walking by?
Did you think one thing about them?
Did you hear a single sigh?
Is one single soul rejoicing,
because you shared your day?
Or did they look at you with sadness,
as you quickly walked away?
You know days can be wasted,
and leave a trail of discontent.
Or can bring love and laughter,
depending on how your day was spent.
