Analysis of Casualties of War
For some a subject to bore,
So they often ignore,
The deaths of many men.
The casualties of war,
Are filled with blood and gore,
Yet war springs up time and time again.
For many long nights
In a country's barren heights,
A skirmish over land.
Over several fights,
Scores are set right,
But blood is on his hands.
His friends have fallen dead,
And he wishes it were him instead,
For he is now alone.
Overwhelmed with dread,
His emotions misled,
His confidence dethroned.

About this poem
This poem is about a soldier and his loss of many friends to casualties of war. In the first two stanzas of the poem, the poem is addressing war itself, and after starts to focus in on a single soldier. I included some hidden/ dual meanings in some o f the stanzas of my poem.
