Analysis of Wasted Space

Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)

Not all.
But many do rely upon,
A routine of normalcy.
Twenty four hours from Sunrise to Sunset.
Until the next morning dawns.
To do nothing more but carry on,
An expectation of the same complaints.
With a doing to blame and permit,
The familiarity of what is chosen to exist.
Done to do to refuse to admit,
Each choice chosen to choose...
Had them in the midst involved in this.

So many ignore,
Their own mental space gone to waste.
With a doing to sit and await,
To contemplate awaiting...
For that right Appropriate time to make,
A different move in another direction.
Leaving few to take or consider,
Each cycle of breath taken to breathe...
Is not guaranteed,
To be free of polluting diseases.

Although some and not all,
Will remain fixed to beliefs...
That life to get and blessed to receive,
Has little to do...
With chances and risks to take.
From Sunrise until that next morning dawns.
Whether or not,
Their wants and wishes reminisced to miss...
Had been limited to a mind gone to waste.
Left to occupy unused space.
Yet expect most do,
To procrastinate and complain.
About what remains to stay unchanged.
Although will find the time to blame,
How long it takes...
To have their dreams wanted to come true,
Had not come overnight to happen.

'Some people are just born lucky.
To have everything they want and choose.'

'I know.
Especially the ones,
Who have sacrificed most of their lives.
Staying motivated, ambitious and disciplined.
Wanting to succeed.
At whatever they chose to do.
And guess what?'

'They managed to do this,
By refusing to listen to those who sat.
Complaining about the luck,
The those who are Irish have.'

'I didn't know they were Irish.
I took for granted they were Black like me!'

'That goes to show,
You or anyone else...
A book to judge by its cover,
Has little to do...
With the contents inside of it.'

'But...
I was not told that by reliable sources.'

'You mean,
The ones who claim...
They can read others with an expertise.
Yet make up facts they know nothing about?
With a doing to spread,
Lies you depend upon to pull from your head.
I was going to say 'empty head'.
But that to say,
Would have left you to believe...
I too pass judgement.'

'Well...
At least you kept that opinion to yourself!'
