Analysis of A Christmas Poem

As I sit and look at the Christmas Tree
But what out of the window I see.
A star shining bright in the crisp cool night
And memories of Christmas seem to flight

The first memory that has to be said
Is a tree that rises above my head
It’s a Christmas tree of the years long past
But memory that’s sure to last

I am taken as if by storm
To a place that is adorn
With presents and lights –
What a beautiful sight!

I find myself in my youth again
I feel as if I were ten
I find myself sitting on the stairs
And peering through the banisters

I feel the excitement grow
But alongside, I feel sorrow.
How could this be THIS time of year
"Oh Brother I wish You Were Near! "

His face was taken so soon away
All I could do it seemed was pray
I often feel close his presence,
I wonder if it was his essence.

I often feel him watching over me
As if he were above that tree
I think of him often and wonder
How he would be?

I immerse myself in holiday cheer
And thank my God for the family near
And for the boy that once knew
The brother who was always here!
