Analysis of Foot In Mouth
Lawrence S. Pertillar 1947 (Connecticut)
When words spoken,
Are left to go unheard.
Either gone ignored or disputed.
To scrutinize the speaker.
Leaving nothing else,
One can possible say another way.
In the hopes this attempt,
Clarifies the content of delivery.
And this should make a difference.
But to a stubborn mind, doesn't!
There is always another option to take.
Go away to let life be the teacher.
Without words heard to hear,
Lessons to learn for anyone done.
Making it obvious,
From one ear to the other...
A mind to use has not yet for them come.
Although,
Eventually...
Anyone defiant like this,
Has no other choice.
But to pay attention to what life teaches.
Keeping nonsense,
Habitually coming out of a mouth...
To close it tight.
Leaving this experience,
Seldom to happen over night.
'Are you okay?
So accustomed I had been,
Prepared to listen...
To your unsolicited opinions given.
And now...
I witness you have begun to ask,
More questions.
What has happened?'
'I found my foot in my mouth.
More too often than I realized.'
'What a revelation that must have been.
At least you became aware.
And made conscious of it.'
'There is nothing like being made a fool.
To then be stupid enough to prove it.
And provide the evidence.'
'Well...
We all make mistakes.'
'Yeah.
I know that now.
But...
To defend and deny them made?
What fool does that?'
'That's a good question.
However...
There is one thing I must admit.
Few are the fools who will confess,
Remaining foolish...
Has obtained them wisdom.
And a quality of life without truth to face.'
'So...
You also have been,
Stupid, dumb, thoughtless and ignorant?'
'Hey, hey...whoa.
Hold up here.
Remember,
This is not about me.
Foolish?
I may have been.
And besides...
This is your awakening.
All that other stuff?
I admire your willingness to address it.'
