Analysis of Who Sets the Rules?
The book of rules
in which images and words never fade
Who rewrites the same edition for every decade
who illustrates the way it is?
In a world where there’s diversity:
gays, straights, blacks, whites
You check the boxes given
never allowed to think otherwise
Your very heart beats to a rhythm you’re forbidden to step to.
Your feet pegged
wings clipped
Who makes the rules who illustrates the way it is?
Replace your legs with pegs and dig a hole and slide in
fitting in place, cause that’s when they’ll say you’re living it right.
You suffocate.
Your air isn’t your own
What’s in the air you breath
if you can’t dance and sing and laugh
is that too much to ask?
does it mean you can’t be a friend, a mother a wife?
Claim your life before they claim yours
Or be the heir to their own life!
