Analysis of The Queen
Once in the stillness of an autumnal night
When a clear stream flowed from the woods to the sea
A fair, angelic maiden did appear to me
Possessing gazes graced with light.
Like a holy ghost from Bethlehem
Her smile was of copper, and instilled a sigh
Of canticles, of vespers, of satin and sky
Which the cherubs exhaled in Jerusalem.
Her tresses were gold, of a silhouette and dark.
She walked with the pace of an immaculate queen.
And in her sacred wake, solemnly, unseen,
Her fragrant mignonette sanctified the park.
