Analysis of Lost Childhood (TW for SA and mentions of self-injury and su!c!de)
A girl of an age so young,
Whose fate had been decided before it was done.
There came a friend of hers, a little boy
But soon she found he would not bring her joy.
They were neighbors, a relationship of no harm,
Before he, a victim himself, tricked her with his charm.
A girl of an age so young,
Whose fate had been decided before it was done.
Fooled her into playing his games, he did,
For nearly a year, the secret they hid.
Seemingly safe, she played the games,
Not knowing later, herself she would blame.
A girl of an age so young,
Whose fate had been decided before it was done.
Dolls were transformed into real-life kids,
A father and mother, that’s what they did.
“I’m off to work” was the norm,
Who knew it could become a much more sinister form?
Only a light kiss on the cheek, and nothing more,
Until to him it became a bore.
A girl of an age so young,
Whose fate had been decided before it was done.
Things progressed into lots more drama,
But she had not a clue about her symptoms of trauma.
A supposed “threat” with visions of a backpack full of knives,
With the boy saying he’d take her family’s lives.
A girl of an age so young,
Whose fate had been decided before it was done.
Fast forward to years later when she was older,
Her past blocking her from moving on like a boulder.
Fear grew into a phobia that she couldn’t control,
With her PTSD clawing deep into her soul.
The hurt she felt, it tore her apart,
Until there was no more of her dead heart.
A girl of an age so young,
Whose fate had been decided before it was done.
She survived through each day, longing to sleep.
Feeling as though she were drowning in the deep.
Her skin became her drawing board,
Dark red lines she liked to score.
She failed in the end when her life counted down to zero,
So nonetheless, she would never be a living hero.
A girl of an age so young,
Whose fate had been decided before it was done.
