About this poem
For thirty four years I served as both a classroom public school teacher and a university professor in various schools and colleges of New York, and the wisdom I obtained came from occasionally using my classroom as a laboratory and having very young preadolescent children assume the responsibility of developing and teaching a lesson as I sat among them, listening eagerly and learning much in the process from them. Indeed, William Wordsworth was right to say, “The Child is father of the man. ” I invite you, thus, to read his poem, savor it with all your, heart, all your mind, all your strength, and get new meaning out of it. more »
