Analysis of Night Noise
4:30 A.M., now suddenly awake
A noise, a bang somewhere, a suspicious break
As if a witch or ghost
Is here to entertain, to raise me a toast
Half drowsed, the other half alert
Did knocking sparrow enter as a bird?
Alas, it is but an unlocked window gone awry
And not a dangerous
Martian spy!
Now so awake, I can't go to sleep
Already counted eight hundred sheep
