"WEDDING DAY" by P J Gammarano, Sr.
from 7 Oct. 2021
On this special time, the season doesn't matter;
the dress-ups we see just fine; but no need to flatter...
'cause you each are who you are
in your own ways, each a star...
and now, you're getting married--in love.
With some events like this, they release a dove !
In a world where there is now so much uncertainty
how refreshing to have love so clear to see.
[refrain] -> The church bell chimes for you two today...
with the hope that your marriage goes quite a long way.
In years and decades yet to live in unison from this day.
Our world gains one truly happy human pair;
so easy to feel that love throughout the air.
Those who love you are here (or virtual !) to celebrate;
and remembered are those who cared, but exist now of late.
We are smiling over, and they are smiling down...
...at the groom in the suit, and the bride in the gown !
The flowers abound, the limo is ready.
The groom has a ring for a finger that's steady.
Not nervous at all--don't have to be in any doubt
when your beau loves you as you love them--inside and out !
From the time in the moment that the bride is given away,
It's a comfort to know that the family even gets to stay.
The big cake, the cries,, the crowd's wistful sighs--
At the moment you say "I do" for each other--no lies.
Would it matter without sun, but instead rainy skies ?
We can hope past the vows, many happy moments ahead, like a fable.
When they ask for the wedded couples to stand up at their table
to show their years of marriage together, sincerely...
...may yours become one of those, with blessings & longevity !
