Analysis of Pet Your Song
I see the way you pet your song,
All big and loud and stringy,
I wish you wouldn't pet so long,
Put wet food in my thingy,
Like when you make something good,
And I finally get to taste it,
You share with me as well you should,
Cause you don't want to waste it,
You know that I'm not wrong,
But instead you pet your song,
You must think that I can't see,
But I've seen it saw it sun it,
You tell them all it isn't true,
But still I seen you done it,
If I could talk you might feel sad,
Share with me some food you had,
It might be expired spoiled or bad,
Just let me test it I'll be glad,
Don't just pet your song,
Get up and move along,
Please get up from your chair,
Fix me a thing of tuna,
I won't growl I won't hiss,
I'll purr and meow and mewna,
I'll scrape my box to bury my turds,
Make you pet me afterwards,
I'll shed hair on your clothes,
In your eyes and up your nose,
Then I'll head off to bed,
While you pet your song instead,
Before I bid you ado,
If you stay, I might stay too,
Watch you drink another few,
Cause I got nothing else to do,
Let's start fresh let's start anew,
Go fetch some food for you know who,
I'll take a sardine or two,
Don't make me wait the time is due,
Do you pet your song,
Or does your song pet you?

About this poem
Pi, my pet cat, often tries to get me to put down my guitar and get her something. to eat. If she could talk, I thought it might sound something like this poem.
