Analysis of Dear God
Dear God our Father in Heaven above
Why must You take the people we love?
It is hard not to question Your Wishes or Will,
Alas, human we are and our souls won’t be stilled.
The pain that we suffer, the tears that we shed,
On these long lonely days and sleepless nights in our beds.
For our parents, spouses, children, family, and friends,
Why would You not leave them and take us instead?
Our loved one’s words of comfort, their kisses and hugs.
Our sweet children’s laughter and inquiring tugs.
The beauty of friendships You so lovingly sent us.
You suffered loss when You gave us Jesus.
Would You please give us answers?
Where did they go?
What if anything, would they want us to know?
Are they happy, do they miss us,
Please Dear God these are just some of our questions.
“My Dear Children,
Your loved ones are with Me, they are at last Home.
They reside here in Heaven at the foot of My Throne.
They laugh and they sing, no they don’t miss a thing.
They patiently wait to be with you again”.
The message for you from your loved ones above,
“We thank you ALL for your wonderful love.
Do not get angry. Rejoice, be not sad.
Your faith in His Love, you shared. Be glad!
No sickness or tears, no hunger or fears,
Do we have anymore now that we are here.”
“So, My dear children, Believe Me and know,
My Son Jesus Lives, though I lost Him also.
But, the blood that He shed for your souls guaranteed,
Life Eternal in Heaven with My Son and Me”.

About this poem
This poem originally titled, “Dear God “ was written in 1998 about the loss of our loved ones. The deaths of my 3 youngest children Amanda 11, Kevin 9 and Craig Sheffield 8, in 1987 left me with many questions hence the poem. After 8 long years of self abuse and addiction, I got sober on 2/23/96. Sobriety has its rewards, mine was creative writing. I began a huge memorial dedicated to my children in which I began getting requests from other bereaved parents to help them build Memorials for their children who had passed. God is amazing in the ways that He takes tragedy and turns it into Glory. This is my testimony. I wrote a book, “A Childlike Faith, For All I Trust Him” is about my life with my children. It was accepted for Publishing and released 6/21. In my book, I put this poem at the end. I titled it, “Human Questions, Divine Answers”. I pray it brings those who have suffered the loss of a loved one, the Peace that passes all understanding. Jesus Christ and His gift of forgiveness of our sins and the promise of an Eternity in Heaven with Him and our true Father, God. more »
