Analysis of My Unborn Twins

My Unborn Twins

My second trimester has come
My belly touched my thighs.
I sat on the chair
I could feel them move.
Weeks later, I sat again on the chair.
With a glue tube under.
My water broke!
The tube oozed out
And stuck my bum to the chair.
I called the ambulance,
The paramedics rushed to my rescue
My bum was stuck.
They tried and tried;
And my bum could not be detached!
They rushed me on the chair
And here we go
To the hospital.
The ride was bumpy
The police checks and lockdowns
We kept stopping all the way long.
We reached the hospital,
On my ergo chair
With my bum
Stuck on the chair.
They cut my pants off
To detach me off the chair,
We sat there for hours and hours
And the contractions stopped.
I pondered and pondered
Waiting for Love and Humanity
My twins.
Wake up!
I heard push
I tried pushing
Wake up!
It’s time for work
My roomie woke me
I was in my deep sleep
Dreaming!
About my unborn twins
Love and Humanity.

About this poem

My Unborn Twins is a humourous satire that reflects on the challenges faced by a pregnant woman during the pandemic. Love and Humanity are the two core attributes that can make life better for humans on earth. While we see glimpses of these attributes many a time it is forgotten by the popular mass. It is a reminder that it is time we embrace the twins at a time such as this.
