Analysis of Politics
Michael Matalon 1973 (New York)
We listen to the politicians
Who seem more like magicians
That pull answers out from a hat
They stir up our inner feelings
With claims of future dealings
Of this, that is better than that
Yet we fall within their trap
By means of thier generous rap,
Then stand firm with our new beliefs!
Are we truly such dense creatures
To value such pointless features
Delivered by proven liars and thieves?
Certain we are
Because we do
It seems pointless
What we hold true

About this poem
I wrote this many years ago, before the recent political craziness, which means politics has always been crazy.
