Rose

Michael Matalon 1973 (New York)

you have wilted in the garden
resting peacefully but all too sudden
we'll miss you

 your crimson petals were bold
and there was never a thorn on your stem
a genuine beauty

and now that you lay in the ground
withered away by the long season passed
we remember

you once stood with us and smiled
and in our minds we see you clear
always lovely

we're your family of roses
and your character lies within us
we are forever thankful

we will never forget
    that lovely Rose
