Analysis of The Joy That Should Be

No one can see me,
No one can free me,
For I hide
Deep inside.
Life's events winding
Like strips binding
'Till I'm mummified,
and petrified.
Seeing each defect,
Feeling like a reject,
Wrapped,
Trapped
Into a prison
Of criticism.
Self doubts in my head,
Weaving as a thread
Thru each interaction
Reducing to a fraction
The life that could be,
The joy that should be.
Was it there at birth,
This feeling of no worth?
Or are we born
Then battered and torn
By the unkind word
Clearly overheard,
By praise too sparse,
Criticism too harsh?
The world mostly seeks,
With praise mainly speaks
Of those deemed born
With perfect mind and form.
So the meek and plain
Choose to refrain
From bringing attention,
Feeling unworthy of mention.
Thus every interaction
Reducing to a fraction
The life that could be,
The joy that should be.
But no! Wait,
'Ere it's too late,
Let me be free
To be just me!
More the pity, great the shame,
Were we all just the same,
Each creation has its' beauty and reason,
Each glorious in its' own season!
Who then should say which the fairer grows,
The tulip or the rose?
All of creation is of a design
For differences to compliment and intertwine,
Let us celebrate all of creation and each of us
Realizing our differences are an enriching plus,
That life for each may be all that it could be
Lived with all the joy that should be!!
