Analysis of A Moment With Me

I went back to see you today
I wanted to let you know, we was OK
I wasn't sure if I'd recognize your face
Or that I'd even find you, you moved from place to place

But when I finally seen you, my heart wasn't ready for the sight
I tried my best to hold it together, I tried with all my might

Such a wild child, very wise for your years
For I saw who you really was, looking through my tears

Man, I wanted to hold you, wrap my arms around your fragile soul
Let you know your gonna have to be strong, more than you'll ever know
Your dirty, hungry and to scared to go to sleep
But you lay quite at night, scared to make a peep
You may be heard, and the punishments are bad
Behind your big blue eyes, you are so sad
I want you to feel the love that you needed right then
But I'd have to go back in time again
I tell you, you deserve so much more than what your given
But your so so strong, and your gonna keep living
Your carrying the weight of a unfair life in which you had no choice
And guess what, you'll save your family, you'll find your voice.

But, I didn't come for sadness and tears
We'll have enough of that through the years
I just wanted to see you again, I mean really see you
I wanted to give you hope, something to hold on to

So, I came with good news, your gonna win in life
Your gonna find a great man, you'll be his wife
You'll have beautiful children, who won't have to live this way
Survival won't be on your mind every single day
You may not believe this but, you'll eventually like school
The dreams you have about your life, there all gonna come true.

Don't get me wrong, there will be times your gonna fall
But that's just the human in us all
Don't be to hard on yourself, and girl.. learn to cry
It's not a sign of weakness, it's how you'll get by.
Before I go I want you to know, I'm very proud of who your going to be.
For once in my life, I am proud of ME!

About this poem

I wrote this on accident. I think! But it's part of a healing process for me and dealing with childhood trauma. So I thought Id like to share this with others.

Angie Bell

Im a lover of words and music. I always say music and poetry raised me. These things were the only comfort I had as a child and I still enjoy them just as much today. I'm not very comfortable sharing my work with others yet but maybe that will change. You'll never know if you can fly unless you take that jump. more…
