Analysis of Flower - Night - Light
Dr. T. Pinnock 1962 (Hartford, Ct)
Flower
A flower is a seed,
that rides in the air.
Yet a flower has not the power to comprehend,
but come spring, the flower has bloomed.
Night
A beautiful night, when
the stars shine lovely.
Moon just, sits and sees,
a plane glows it red lights.
Light
Wonderful ball of fire,
blinding our eyes.
If it disappears,
Darkness will be
the commander.
We hate,
We kill,
What the hell is the will???

About this poem
It is difficult to fathom why a 9-year-old would mix beautiful natural images with darkness and hell. Perhaps nature represents his hope in his dark situation. Also, nature instilled in him hope as readiness for the depressed darkness that currently infects Dr. Pinnock.
