Analysis of Second Wave
Did you call the doctor? She asks.
I went for a walk
with my only friend here
And I even found a feather,
A tiny one, black and white
Our pet dog died
And the buffalo too
They suspect snakebite
or sunburn
I had sunburn too
A patch in the shape of
a quaint island
But I am alive
Did you write? He asks.
I hear train sounds
from my rusty hostel window
And I long to hop on a train
holding my best friend's hand
I cooed back to the cuckoo
it played along
And it went on for a while
My throat hurts
At night I fell from the bed
And hurt my ankle, knee, and elbow
But it also felt like childhood
I didn't complain
You should take a walk every day, They say.
Meanwhile, the lizards colonized my room
My nail paint faded
and the window curtains are blue now
